story

Miyu's mother gets selected to be an astronaut
and goes off with Miyu's father to the US, leaving
her daughter alone in Japan. Miyu is forced to stay

at Seionji temple, with the priest and his only son,
Kanata, who is Miyu's age. The priest decides to go
to India, leaving Miyu and Kanata alone in the temple.
At first they quarrel constantly and do not get along.
However, when a UFO crashes into the temple, the two
find baby Lu from Planet Otto and his cat-like babysitter,
Wannyan in the wreckage. Miyu and Kanata end up
taking care of baby Lu, until rescue comes from Planet
Otto. This is how a bizarre life in a Buddhist temple with
2 teenagers, an alien baby and baby-sitting cat begins.
UFO Baby is a love story written with a comical touch.

I am very interested in Japanese history and culture. So that is why I am posting this. I have taken it from a magazine called Nipponia which is one of the best guides on Japan. Do try it out. By the way , Osaka Castle is absolutely grand. Wish I could live in it.

Osaka Castle (Osaka Prefecture)

Osaka Castle was constructed in 1585 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. He used it as his base to unify Japan after many years of war. The huge castle took two years to build, with a crew of 20,000 to 30,000 working daily. The stone walls for the main, secondary and tertiary enclosures measure about 12 km in length. One of the huge boulders for the main enclosure wall is 5.8 m tall and 14 m wide (it is called tako-ishi ). The castle was burned in 1615 when the Toyotomi family was overthrown. It was rebuilt, but the main tower was destroyed by fire in 1665, and most of the remaining buildings burned to the ground in 1868. The present main tower was reconstructed in 1931 by the city of Osaka, using reinforced concrete.

Osaka Castle's largest boulder, called tako-ishi , is at the Sakura-mon Gate. Historical records say that it was brought from Inujima by a crew from the Ikeda Domain (present-day Okayama Prefecture).

Kamichu-A new anime

Recently I was watching animax and I saw an anime called "Kamichu". Its name was actually "Teenage Goddess" but Kamichu is the original japanese name. I took to liking it instantly. It was quite different from Cardcaptor Sakura yet quite similar. Both of them are steeped in Japanese culture. Kamichu is even more so perhaps that is why I liked it. Here is the wikipedia information

Kamichu!: Teenage Goddess (かみちゅ!~かみさまでちゅうがくせい~, Kami-chu! ~Kamisama de Chugakusei~?, literally "A Deity as a Middle School Student") is a Japanese anime television series, strongly influenced by the Shinto religion, that follows the adventures of teenage goddess Yurie Hitotsubashi and her friends. The series was created by Besame Mucho (ベサメムーチョ, Besamemūcho?), which is the joint pen name of Tomonori Ochiai, Koji Masunari, and Hideyuki Kurata. It was broadcast by the anime television network Animax on its respective networks worldwide, including Japan, East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, where it received its first English-language broadcast.
The series was adapted as a
manga serialized in Dengeki Daioh, a shōnen manga magazine, and collected in two tankōbon volumes.
At the 2005
Japan Media Arts Festival, Kamichu! received an Excellence Prize for animation.[1]
